Creation of a highly functional enclosed front area with a transformed streetscape and beautifully detailed verandah upgrade.

The Brief

The clients wanted to transform the front of their home into a more private, usable, and visually impressive space. The vision was to integrate a curved gate, new verandah, and European fan-pattern driveway, creating a cohesive and elegant frontage that enhanced both the look and function of the property.


The design aimed to maintain harmony with the existing home’s architecture while improving accessibility, weather protection, and security. The overall goal was to elevate street appeal and add lasting value through refined detailing and craftsmanship.

Constraints & Challenges

This project came with a number of technical and regulatory hurdles:

Council Applications: Required both planning and building permits, with detailed submissions and approval stages managed collaboratively between FJA Designs and Rule Five.

Drainage & Infrastructure: A new stormwater pit had to be designed and installed to handle runoff efficiently, ensuring compliance with local council drainage requirements.

Site Levels & Access: Integrating the new driveway with existing levels demanded precise grading and coordination with engineers to maintain functionality and water flow.

Curved Elements: The fabrication and installation of the curved gate and fencing required advanced detailing to achieve a seamless finish that complemented the architectural intent.

The Outcome

The finished project delivers a striking transformation that blends architectural sophistication with practical function.



The curved gate and fence now form a private yet inviting boundary, the verandah adds a sheltered outdoor living space, and the European fan-pattern driveway enhances curb appeal with a timeless, high-end aesthetic.

Together, these upgrades have completely revitalised the home’s frontage — balancing elegance, durability, and everyday usability.
